About ten years ago I listened to the CD of Tony Robbins. In it he talks about how when bad things you must do something to "turn it around." It makes sense to me. So now if I was in a funk about something and I will do something to change my circumstances. Like going to hit home. Or work. Or just driving around blasting music. Hey, you have no idea how inspiration ABBA can.
As a small business owner (and the Republic of the … gulp … vote for President Obama) I now see the need to change our country. I have hope. But I realize I'm kind of narcotic. Check your business bank account and You'll see why.
I love the President. And not that he had not tried to help small businesses. He pushed through a lot of laws friendly to small businesses. His heart in the right place. But his belief that the Government, and not business, is our answer to the challenges of the economy has hurt my company.
Why? Because in three years, my hair has grown faster than the economy (hint: check out my photos.) Our deficit is terrible. New taxes to fund more government solutions soars in 2013 and 2014. The proposed regulation of health care reform for FDA regulations and environmental restrictions on oil exploration was not helping my customers (or their savings) during this recession. This is all with good intentions. And the worst case time.
No one, especially business people, want to spend money or risk their capital in this kind of environment. That is why everyone I talk to sitting on their money, rather than buy technologies from me. It's time to "turn it around me."
